Layering Eye Liner

Awhile ago, in one of my other videos, I mentioned that I would be making another video on layering eye liner. Here it is! Sorry that took so long.

You can see from some of my other videos that layering is one of my favorite techniques.

I use layering for eye shadow so often.

I did a 4 step process for cheek color in this video.

Do you have a favorite technique? Please share. Oh, and enter the Makeover Giveaway!

Stick On Nail Polish Update

Do you remember this video? You know, the one for stick on nail polish? Its all the rage.

You don't see many nail posts around here. That is because I am not skilled at polishing my own nails and I rarely get manicures. I realized that when I got one this March, the last manicure I had was for my wedding....the previous March. That is terrible. I am going to try harder in this department. I think.

I got these in one of my first Birchbox deliveries. It took me awhile to use them. Mostly because I absolutely hated the color. But also because doing this required me to sit still, which rarely happens.

The video demonstrates my first experience using this product. You can see that I am struggling, (maybe a little bored), but it was pretty easy to use. Even for me. I only kept it on for a day, because it was painfully ugly. Really, blue sparkles? Not my jam.

Like I said, it was pretty easy to apply. It did start to lift, around the cuticles and started to get snagged on things, This could have been due to user error. Me being the user. My major dislike from this is because of the removal process. To remove, you saturate a cotton ball with nail polish remover and apply pressure, wiping the stick on polish away. I have to say, this was more time consuming (and took some muscle) than I was expecting.

A few weeks later, I tried the Sally Hansen brand. I wanted to experiment with a color I would actually want to wear. The Sally Hansen stick on nails come in so many patterns and fun prints. That is not really my thing, I am more into neutrals, if I ever even put a color on my nails. Well, I get a little wild on the toes, just not my hands. Its too distracting. It took some effort, but I found a neutral, beige color.
Isn't it pretty? I have to say, the Instagram filter makes everything look better. The color is pretty. This one took me so much longer the apply that the one from the video. I'm not sure why. The backing was too hard to remove. I did keep it on a bit longer. I was surprised how quickly that it started to peel away. A few days into, I used the same technique from before. This time, it was SO HARD to remove. I took it off the left hand and I was so exhausted by the amount of effort that it took, I didn't take it off the right hand for another 2 days. I know, embarrassing.

So many people have great things to say about these products. I don't think I will be a regular user. Looks like I am just not a nail girl. Maybe I will get better? I'll keep trying and let you know if I improve.

Have you tried them? What did you think? Did you enter the Makeover Give away?

Mommy Makeover with a GIVE AWAY!

You know how there are certain transitions in life that just call for something new. Sometimes its a new outfit, sometimes its new makeup or a new haircut or color. Those times can be things like Back to School, first day at a new job, a hot date or any exciting new thing.

Well, this is a big one. This one is a big step and we decided that this big step called for a fun makeover. And this makeover, inspired a give away! Make sure to enter. You can win my new favorite styling product and a set of makeup brushes from the Body Shop.

Meet my friend, Susan. She is a soon to be new mom, and a first timer. Susan is also an entrepreneur, a photographer, and she works very hard. She is not an overly glammed out lady. She doesnt wear a ton of makeup and doesn't fuss with her hair too much. She is pretty natural.

There were a couple of reasons that Susan felt she needed these changes. First, she knows that her life is about to change drastically so she wants to make sure that she is making things like her hair, as easy as possible. The other thing that was important, is that Susan get the confidence boost that will probably be really useful when she enters into her life as a new mom. I know if it were me, I would be doing quite a bit of faking it til you make it and I would want to look good while doing it.

Alright! This is step one of the makeover process. We had our consultation and now we have stepped away to start the cut and color process. Before the big reveal, we thought it would be fun to have a little contest and give you a prize!

Frownies Facial Patches

When Frownies contacted me to review their product, it took me no time to accept the opportunity.
It may seem a little silly, but I am fascinated (if not mildly obsessed) with not only preventing further aging but repairing the damage that I have already done. It's just kind of my thing.

I used these products for a few weeks and I would love to share my experience with you. I even made this fun video for the YouTube channel (you have subscribed, right?).

Eye Gel Patches
These patches feel amazing! The coolness and light pressure are super effective a reducing puffiness and smoothing fine lines. I need more of these babies! You can use them 2-4 times. Apply for about a half hour, then place them in tray and spray with the Rose Water Hydrator. Seal in a ziplock bag and refrigerate.

Retail - 3 reusable pairs - 5-7 week supply(when used with Rose Water Hydrator) $29.97

Rose Water Hydrator
LOVE this. This is the special trick to reusing those awesome gel patches. They also activate the Frownies patches so that they adhere to the skin. The 2 oz bottle is the perfect size to toss into your carry on and refresh your dehydrated skin on long flights.

Retail - 60 ml. spray bottle - $11.95

Facial Patches
The company has been making these patches since 1889, so this is not new. They are tried and true. Use the as an all natural, mechanical solution to Botox. They are meant to be applied to the skin for 3 hours or overnight. You will see the best results when you wear them while you sleep. I was surprised and excited that I saw improvement after the first few days of using the patches.

Retail  - $19.95 - 144 patches in the box - 8-12 week supply

Immune Shield (my favorite!)
The rolling ball applicator makes this so easy to apply around the eyes and mouth. The whole active Vitamin E and anti-oxidants are incredible to protect and repair your skin.
Retail value - 60ml - $32.00
Multi-tasking, smoothing wrinkles while I rest.
What do you think? Would you try them? Tell me about your experience, if you already have.

Wrinkle Revenge. My Full Body Anti Aging Plan. Plump it up!

Plumping is good, when it happens in all right places. I have been on a life long mission to make sure I am properly plumping and taking an all around approach to health, fitness, beauty, etc.

You will often hear me preach the importance of protecting yourself from the sun. I love to share my new favorite workout (and workout fashions!) or latest race. Recently, I have had added a daily cup of green tea, which adds to my "beauty from the inside out" regime. There is no doubt that I practice what I preach.

No matter where you are in the anti-aging battle,  there comes a time when you have to both prevent and repair. Ain't it fun? This a serum that I have been testing for few weeks and I have had some incredible results.

What does this product do? Smooths wrinkles, corrects exaggerated expression lines, prevents the formation of new lines and more.
How do you use it? Apply to clean face, twice daily. In the morning, follow with moisturizer (with spf!) and apply cosmetics of your choice. In the evening, apply to clean face the follow with eye cream and your nightly moisturizer.
Not only did I apply this product to my face, neck and décolletage. I also used it on my hands. After years of working as a bartender then a hairdresser, I have had the hands of a 90 year old woman since my 20s.

This makes me crazy! I wear sunscreen on my hands when I run outside and work in the hard. I wear gloves when I wash dishes. I spend a fortune on hand cream. You may think this is a little over the top (and it may be) BUT other than the face, the décolletage and a woman's hands will truly show how well you have taken care of yourself.

This is a photo (by Jason Cohen) taken on my wedding day last year. My mother in law printed this photo for her album. When I saw it, all I could see were these old lady hands and I wanted to cry my face off. It is a beautiful photograph, thanks Jason! But this will forever be the granny hands picture. Isn't that terrible?
I have been applying the serum twice a day, then using a hand cream (Body Shops Hemp Hand Protector) and I think they are looking much better.
I also learned, thru this process, that attempting to photographer your own hands to quite challenging.

What is your wrinkle revenge plan? If you have tried DERMAdoctor products, what is your favorite? I am dying to try the glycol moisturizer and the Wrinkle Rescue eye balm.

Full Disclosure: I like sharing.

Im usually the last to know.

Sometimes, I am slow to catch on to things. That's ok. As soon as Im all caught up,  I like to share things with you. Maybe its because I have no filter. I like to attribute it to my overwhelming generosity. Go with whatever feels right to you.

Anyway, now is one of those times. Kind of like when I edit my videos and I can't believe that I shamelessly appear in hot rollers, sing into my hair brush, video myself with NO MAKEUP, run in the rain, and so much more (all public on the YouTube channel!, you should subscribe!)

Instagram is all the rage, right! I love it! I am not the best photographer and the filters make everything look better. I love to Instagram photos of myself and I'm considering making bumper stickers and/or t-shirts that say "Life looks better in Instagram", I should copyright that.

After weeks of being on Instagram and uploading my pics to Facebook, Twitter and this blog, I realize that I have followers. These followers can comment and I can follow other people. How fun is this! It is like a news feed of all fun pictures.

I know, as usual, I am totally behind. I didn't realize that Instagram was another form of social media. Are you on Instagram? We should totally follow each other. My name is Starstylist, so you can follow me. Leave me a comment with your screen name and I will follow you! And you can tag people, its like Facebook but all photos.

Just so you know what to expect, my Instagram feed is full of all of my favorite things. Here are a few.

I share behind the scenes photos of my work, like this bride above and this awesome makeover (coming soon to the VLOG)

You will see a lot of these guys!
My dog babies. Jasmine and Charlie.

Good times with my Best Pals
My husband and his birthday ice cream cake!

Best Pals having Sunday Funday

Yep, this is my Instagram avatar.

Expect lots and lots of food and drink. Its kind of my thing.

And my travels/adventures

These ridiculous photos of myself may be the most entertaining.
You may remember this from my Coconut Oil post.

I haven't exactly figured out how to find people. Follow  me and comment here or on a photo and I will follow you back!
